California Mini-Trip

One of my favorite authors, John Steinbeck, was born in 1902 in Salinas, California. My favorite book by Steinbeck–The Grapes of Wrath (1939). Boy, what a book! Makes you think twice before complaining.

I took a trip to California years ago, and revisiting photos, came across those that reminded me of Steinbeck, although not taken expressly where he lived. The dry hills and blue skies felt like backdrops for The Red Pony or Of Mice and Men:

I also visited Bodega Bay and the coast nearby. Some might recognize the house as the school in Hitchcock’s 1963 The Birds, based on a short story by another of my favorite authors, Daphne DuMaurier:

A quick revisit of old travels and favorite authors. Thanks for joining me, and I hope it brightened a bit of your day!

I love the links between life and literature, and couldn't get by day-to-day without a little humor. Here's my place to share thoughts and discoveries in bite-sized pieces, illustrated by my sister Morra Morron. Enjoy!
